Energy Sector Group Analyzes Electricity Supply and Stability

The Sectoral Group for Energy convened at the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources to assess the current electricity supply situation and the preparedness of key stakeholders. Minister Sanja Bozinovska initiated the group, comprising AD ESM, MEMO, MEPSO, the Regulatory Commission, and other sector partners, to ensure coordinated responses to potential supply risks.

A central point of discussion was the system’s performance during the recent holidays and its readiness for the upcoming May Day weekend. The group concluded that the electricity network handled increased demand effectively, without significant interruptions, and that all resources are fully mobilized for the approaching holiday period.

AD ESM reported a significant improvement in water levels, which have risen above 30% after being at a critical low of 11% at the end of the previous year. The company attributed this progress to its responsible and economical resource management strategies.

Discussions also covered the progress of ongoing energy projects, their current phases, and any challenges encountered. While some projects are advancing as planned, internal procedures are being implemented to address delays in others. Future investment plans aimed at bolstering the security and resilience of the electricity grid were also highlighted.

Minister Bozinovska emphasized the importance of regular coordination to ensure a stable and secure electricity supply for both citizens and the economy. She stated that continuous dialogue among institutions is crucial for proactively addressing potential risks.

The Sectoral Group for Energy will maintain its regular meetings and public reporting to promote transparency and professionalism in the management of the national energy system.
