DUI: Siljanovska-Davkova sided with the Government in undermining the multi-ethnic character of the state

DUI accuses President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova of siding with the government and undermining the multi-ethnic character of North Macedonia. They criticize her stance on parliamentary majority and ethnic balance.

The party claims that Siljanovska Davkova’s statement that the government does not need to worry about early elections as long as it has 61 MPs, regardless of how many Albanian MPs leave, shows a disregard for ethnic balance and coalition partnerships.

DUI states that the President has abandoned her role as a fair arbitrator of different political positions and has instead chosen to be part of party polarization, becoming a spokesperson for mono-ethnic domination. They believe this approach is reminiscent of past suppression of Albanians through majoritarianism.

According to DUI, without constitutional and political mechanisms guaranteeing consensus in the election and actions of the President, the function will remain perceived as exclusively ethnic, focused only on the needs of the Macedonian people. They warn that if Siljanovska Davkova does not reconsider her position, she risks being recognized only by a part of the population, with the Albanian people viewing her function as alienated and inauthentic to the multi-ethnic character of the state.
