Police in Skopje have identified the driver of a car filmed dragging a horse tied behind it, an incident that sparked public outrage after a video circulated on social media.

The video, which surfaced on April 17, 2025, depicted a “Golf” passenger vehicle with Skopje license plates driving through the city with a horse tethered to its trailer hitch. SIA Skopje police officers immediately launched an investigation to identify and document the perpetrator of the “animal abuse,” a criminal offense under Article 233 of the Criminal Code.

Following their investigation, SIA Skopje identified the driver of the vehicle. An official interview was conducted, and the Public Prosecutor was notified. According to their instructions, a report will be prepared for the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje, including all documented evidence, for further action.
