A Levica MP, Rexhep Ismail, has called for the withdrawal of proposed amendments to the Law on Construction Land from the Assembly’s agenda and demanded a public debate involving experts. The ruling majority rejected this proposal and voted to adopt the amendments through a shortened procedure.
Ismail argued that the shortened procedure excludes the architectural profession from the process and facilitates the alienation of state land to private individuals, potentially leading to the usurpation of public areas like schoolyards. He emphasized the need for a broader debate involving relevant experts to analyze the current situation and its consequences.
Ismail pointed out the inconsistency of placing the amendments in a shortened procedure while other proposed amendments related to technical changes were undergoing a regular procedure. He expressed concern that the proposed amendments would facilitate bureaucratic procedures for alienating state land to individuals connected to the ruling majority, citing the tragedy in Kochani as a cautionary message against easing regulations on state land.
