Assembly President Afrim Gashi met with International Federation of Journalists Secretary General Anthony Bellanger to discuss improving working conditions for journalists and the overall media environment.

The meeting included Assembly Secretary General Marina Dimovska, Independent Union of Journalists and Media Workers President Pavle Belovski, and other representatives from both organizations.

Gashi highlighted the media’s role as a “fourth power” influencing transparency and accountability, stating that improving media conditions is an investment in better governance.

Discussions focused on proposed amendments to the Law on Media, currently in parliamentary procedure, with suggestions for enhancing labor rights for journalists and media workers.

Gashi affirmed his commitment to media freedom, independence, and the Assembly’s transparency, emphasizing the importance of regular communication with media representatives and ongoing efforts to increase legislative transparency.
