Cultural workers in North Macedonia have not received their March salaries, even after the legal deadline and during Holy Week, according to the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM).

The SDSM is accusing the Minister of Culture, Zoran Ljutkov, of failing to ensure timely payment, showing indifference to the labor and lives of those working in cultural institutions. The party emphasizes the hardship this causes during the Easter holidays, a time for family gatherings and traditional celebrations.

The SDSM argues that this delay is more than an oversight; it is a blow to the dignity of those who safeguard cultural heritage, create art, and maintain the nation’s spiritual wealth. The party insists that culture should not be a low priority.

The SDSM statement highlights that employees in theaters, museums, libraries, and galleries deserve respect and security, not humiliation and uncertainty. The party calls for accountability to ensure that such a situation does not happen again.
