A criminal complaint has been filed against the head of a department within the Department for Security of Persons and Facilities for abuse of official position. The official allegedly enabled herself to receive a bonus salary for 2023 despite not meeting the legal requirement of having no more than 21 days of absence from work during the year.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the official, who was the head of the Department for Security of Diplomatic Consular Representations and later the head of the Department for Security of Foreign Delegations and Manifestations at the Ministry of Interior, abused her position. She allegedly prepared a list on May 6, 2024, of 11 police officers from the Department for Security of Foreign Delegations and Manifestations who met the bonus salary condition for 2023, including herself on the list. Subsequently, she was determined to be entitled to the bonus, and the funds were paid into her account.
The Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards will submit a proposal to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the police officer. A mandatory measure of removal from the workplace will be imposed until the disciplinary procedure is completed.
