A criminal complaint has been filed against the mayor of Novo Selo, Gjorgje Bozhinov, by the ecological association “Zdrava Kotlina” from Strumica, alleging serious legal violations endangering the environment and public interest. The association claims the mayor and his associates engaged in organized and systematic violations of the law.
The 125-page report, supported by documentation and technical evidence, is based on concrete facts, according to the association. This action follows initial civic protests and growing repression, which the association says included criminal charges and lawsuits against citizens for social media posts, abuse of public office, and obstruction of public services. The association emphasizes that no elected official is above the law.
“Zdrava Kotlina” also stated that they have uncovered new indications of additional illegal activities. They plan to file new criminal charges related to at least two serious criminal situations in the near future.
The association is requesting an extraordinary and complete state audit of the Municipality of Novo Selo’s operations. They are particularly focused on the financial and urban planning sectors, archiving, and legal transactions. “Zdrava Kotlina” is also calling for support for citizens who have allegedly faced pressure and rights violations from the mayor and his father, who they claim is complicit in the alleged illegal activities. They seek clarification of abuses suffered by those who disagree with the mayor’s policies.
