Court Hears Testimony in Modular Hospital Fire Case

The main hearing in the case against Florin Besimi, Artan Etemi, and PHI Clinical Hospital for “serious crimes against public safety” related to the modular hospital fire that killed 14 people took place today in the Basic Court of Tetovo.

Experts who prepared reports during the investigation testified. Electrical engineering expert Irfan Shaqiri stated that the electrical work for the modular hospital was done by unqualified hospital employees, leading to high temperatures and cable insulation burning. Forensic examiner Rubin Boshkovski noted mechanical damage to an extension cable connected to a defibrillator and the absence of fire extinguishers in the hospital. Professor Anita Grozdanova testified that the materials used in the modular hospital met the Ministry of Health’s specifications.

The defense’s request to hear experts from Germany was rejected by Judge Redzep Musa, who cited sufficient evidence.

The hearing was adjourned until April 8, when written evidence from the defense will be presented.
