A bronze bust has been reported stolen from the Gjorche Petrov cemetery in Skopje, marking the second such incident in the city in recent days. The theft was reported by a woman who discovered the bust missing yesterday afternoon.
This incident follows a similar occurrence just two days prior at the Butel cemetery, where three bronze busts were forcibly removed. Police are investigating both cases.
Authorities are also investigating the recent vandalism of the monument to child refugees in the “Woman Warrior” park in Skopje. During the past week, the copper relief depicting a mother with three children and bronze letters from the inscription “The homeland – longing of the exiled” were stolen from the monument.
The Ministry of Interior has stated that they are actively working to resolve these cases of theft and vandalism.
