An operation is underway to arrest several individuals to expand the investigation into the Kochani disco fire, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Interior.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that the public will be informed in a coordinated manner by the relevant institutions once the current activities are completed.
Previously, the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Kochani submitted proposals to the Basic Court Kochani to extend the security measures – detention and house arrest – for all suspects in the fire investigation. However, for three suspects, a replacement for detention in the form of house arrest is proposed. These are two suspects from the State Market Inspectorate and one member of the disco’s security.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that investigative actions are continuing in several directions and institutions to examine possible responsibility. The public will be informed immediately after the adoption of a relevant public prosecutor’s decision.
To date, the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation against 27 natural persons and three legal entities regarding the fire. Investigative procedures are also underway against seven police officers.
The fire at the “Puls” disco in Kochani occurred on March 16. Sixty-one people died and almost 200 were injured in the incident.
