Stojanche Stefanov from Kochani, born in 2001, has died from injuries sustained in a fire. The Ministry of Health confirmed his passing, citing information from the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Belgrade.

Stefanov, who had been receiving treatment at the MMA, succumbed to his injuries this morning.

From the beginning, following an initial assessment by medical teams, Stefanov was immediately transferred to the MMA for specialized care. He was intubated and remained in critical condition for the past month.

The patient suffered 27 percent burns and significant injuries from smoke inhalation.

On April 4, he underwent surgery at the MMA and was placed on an ECMO machine to assist with blood oxygenation due to smoke inhalation. Despite these interventions, his condition remained unstable and serious throughout his hospitalization due to the severity of his injuries.

The Ministry of Health extended its deepest condolences to the family and all those affected by the tragedy in Kochani.
