Afrim Gashi Denies Leaving Vredi Coalition

Afrim Gashi, the President of the Assembly, has refuted claims that he is departing the Vredi coalition. He affirmed his commitment to the Alternativa party and his role within the Vredi coalition.

Gashi clarified his position via a Facebook post, emphasizing his dedication to his constituents and his constitutional duties as Speaker of the Assembly. He stated that he aims to treat all MPs and parliamentary groups equally, as required by his constitutional responsibilities.

The denial comes amidst reports of disagreements within the Vredi coalition, specifically involving Arben Taravari, a leader within the Alliance for Albanians. Despite these disagreements, the coalition has announced plans to move towards greater political unity by forming a single political party.

Izet Medjiti, leader of the Democratic Movement, revealed that the new party is expected to have a joint headquarters, information center, candidates, program, and advisory lists for upcoming local elections. This move signals a consolidation of the parties within the Vredi coalition into a unified political force.
