Criminal complaint filed against two former Ministry of Interior employees for abuse of office

A criminal complaint has been filed against two former employees of the Ministry of Interior for abuse of official position and authority, according to the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards. The complaint was submitted to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje and concerns B.D. and V.V., both now retired.

B.D., the former head of the Regional Center for Border Affairs North, is accused of failing to prepare an urgency for the Commission for Psychological Counseling regarding the return of a service weapon to an employee who had been acquitted of misdemeanor liability. Instead, B.D. proposed a temporary reassignment for the employee and subsequently proposed another employee for the temporarily vacant position, knowing that the initial employee was entitled to have his weapon returned. Furthermore, B.D. allegedly failed to inform the Commission that the advertised position was only temporarily vacant, which would have rendered the internal advertisement invalid.

V.V., the former assistant director in the Department of Common Affairs and Human Resource Management, is accused of publishing a telegram for an internal advertisement without a request from B.D. and without verifying the vacancy of the position. As a member of the Commission for Placement and Promotion, V.V. allegedly did not object to the selection of the employee for the temporary position, despite being aware of its temporary nature.

The actions of the two former employees allegedly caused damages of 310,268 denars to the employee who was temporarily reassigned.
