Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has announced that approximately 50 million denars have been disbursed to rice producers as an intervention payment. This action underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and recognizing rice as a strategic crop.

In addition to the payments, the government has secured around 135 million denars for the renovation of irrigation systems in the region. These improvements aim to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Mickoski emphasized the government’s dedication to farmers, contrasting their actions with those of the previous administration. He stated that his government has achieved historical prices and collections for various crops, including tobacco, early vegetables, and cabbage, by prioritizing the interests of farmers over buyers.

Addressing criticism from the opposition, Mickoski refuted claims that rice producers are not receiving adequate support. He asserted that the current government has taken significant steps to assist rice producers, including incorporating rice into commodity reserves, which he claims the previous government failed to do during their seven-year tenure.
