An Albanian citizen wanted by Interpol Italy was apprehended at the “Blato” border crossing near Debar last night.

At 10:05 PM, police officers at the “Blato” border crossing arrested D.S., a 29-year-old man from Albania, upon his entry into North Macedonia. A border check revealed that D.S. was subject to an international warrant issued by Interpol Italy.

Stefan Dimoski, spokesperson for the Sector for Internal Affairs – Ohrid, confirmed the arrest. The individual has been handed over to the Debar police station for further processing.

This arrest follows another apprehension at the same border crossing just two days prior, where an Albanian citizen wanted by Interpol Norway was detained as part of intensified controls due to increased passenger and vehicle traffic.

In a separate incident, the Debar Police Department received a report yesterday at 4 PM regarding a disturbance on “Vebi Dibra” street in Debar. R.F., 52, from Debar, allegedly physically attacked I.P., 41, from Skopje, disrupting public order. An appropriate report will be filed after full documentation of the event.
