Trenchevska to Durmishi: Who Will Be Held Accountable for Salary Delays and Non-Compliance

SDSM MP Jovana Trenchevska has called for accountability regarding the unpaid salaries of employees within the Ministry of Economy and Labor, the State Market Inspectorate, and the State Labor Inspectorate.

During a parliamentary session dedicated to parliamentary questions, Trenchevska addressed Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi, highlighting what she perceives as incompetence within the VMRO-DPMNE government leading to the situation. She emphasized that leaving employees without pay constitutes a violation of their legal rights and a humiliation of their dignity.

Trenchevska questioned when the salary payments for the three institutions would be made. She inquired whether the issues stemming from amendments to the Law on Organization of State Administration Bodies and the merging of the inspectorates into the Ministry of Economy and Labor would be resolved. She also asked whether measures will be taken to prevent future occurrences and whether there will be accountability for the delay and non-compliance with legal obligations for salary payment.

Furthermore, Trenchevska urged the Labor Inspectorate to conduct an inspection within the Ministry of Economy and Labor. She stated that, similar to filing criminal charges against other employers for unpaid salaries, a criminal charge should be filed against the Minister of Economy and Labor. She cited a previous instance in January when salaries for December were not paid until February.
