A forum addressing the rights of writers will take place tomorrow, April 25th, at 7 p.m. at the Writers’ Association of Macedonia (WAM). The event aims to shed light on copyright issues within the Macedonian literary landscape.
The discussion will feature prominent authors and WAM members including Delvina Krluku, Blaze Minevski, Biljana Crvenkovska, Igor Stanojoski, and Petar Andonovski. Zivko Grozdanoski, the president of WAM, will moderate the forum.
The forum will delve into various aspects of copyright, an area often overlooked in Macedonia’s literary circles. Topics to be addressed include the meaning of copyright ownership, the process and conditions for transferring rights to publishers or agents, and the valuation of copyrights.
Panelists will also discuss how author’s fees are determined by publishers and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, especially in the context of competitions for nationally important works. Furthermore, the forum will explore ways for authors to gain better understanding of these issues and advocate for fair and transparent practices. The role of the Writers’ Association of Macedonia in supporting writers’ rights will also be examined.
