Jorge Martin, the reigning champion, is set to race at the Qatar GP this weekend, according to Aprilia.
Martin’s return follows an absence that began during pre-season testing in Malaysia, where he sustained fractures to his left arm and right foot. An additional fracture to his right arm further delayed his season debut.
His absence included the Thailand, Argentina, and USA races, where Marc Marquez (Ducati) won in the first two, and Peco Bagnaia (Ducati) won in the USA.
Aprilia’s request for Martin to test the current motorcycle before his return was denied, prompting discussions about revising regulations for driver comeback protocols.
Lorenzo Savadori, Aprilia’s test driver, substituted for Martin in the initial three races.
Last year at the “Lusail” track, Martin won the sprint and placed third in the Qatar Grand Prix race.
