First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Izet Mejiti, met with the Ambassador of Japan in Skopje, Kawahara Setsuko, today to discuss environmental cooperation.
Both Mejiti and Setsuko highlighted the significance of the enduring partnership between their countries, particularly concerning environmental protection.
Mejiti stated the meeting reflects the new Government’s dedication to strengthening collaboration with Japan and jointly pursuing sustainable environmental projects and green development in North Macedonia.
Setsuko affirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting initiatives focused on nature protection, air quality improvement, water management, and biodiversity preservation in North Macedonia.
Mejiti expressed gratitude for Japan’s past support and expertise in implementing environmental projects, stressing the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges like climate change and biodiversity preservation. He also acknowledged the benefits of this partnership.
Setsuko and Mejiti jointly pledged to continue the existing partnership, ensuring that close cooperation leads to improved environmental conditions for all citizens of North Macedonia.
