The Levica party asserts that increased US tariffs on Macedonian imports, exceeding those on countries under long-term US sanctions, demonstrate that the Republic of Macedonia is viewed by the US as a strategic tool rather than a strategic partner, serving imperialist interests.
According to Levica, successive Macedonian political elites from VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM have pursued a vassal policy subordinate to Washington for over two decades, accepting US ultimatums from the Ohrid Framework Agreement to the name change, and concluding deals detrimental to the domestic economy to satisfy American corporations under the guise of a “strategic partnership.”
The party states that despite financial burdens on the Macedonian people to support American companies and NATO, and the implementation of exploitative labor laws, the US is inflicting economic damage through draconian tariffs.
Levica identifies Hristijan Mickoski as a steward of these policies, claiming his attempts to ingratiate himself with the American administration, including attending Donald Trump’s inauguration, have resulted in a fatal economic blow to the Republic of Macedonia amidst a crisis.
The party emphasizes the need for active involvement in the multipolar world, advocating partnership with all UN Security Council member states and prioritizing economic and investment cooperation. Levica maintains its stance that the Republic of Macedonia will not be a US colony and will conduct internal and external policies based on its own interests, independent of Washington and Brussels.
