A meeting occurred today in the Government at the initiative of SDSM’s president, Venko Filipche, with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, where they discussed a proposal for a new model of political cooperation aimed at addressing key issues of interest to citizens. SDSM’s president introduced this proposal yesterday.
Following the meeting, Filipche stated that it was a good and constructive discussion with the Prime Minister, and that the citizens’ message and request for joint work in areas important for improving the quality of life had reached him.
The parties agreed in principle to form joint bodies or working groups to work on implementing the reform agenda. The initial focus will be on laws related to the judiciary, energy, and strategic projects in healthcare, which are expected to reach the Assembly.
Filipche emphasized that he will nominate experts in justice and energy to participate in drafting these legal solutions. He added that this marks the beginning of a process to develop a methodology for cooperation.
Filipche also noted that he expects other political parties to join this model of cooperation in the future, stressing the need to send a message of unity for the country’s benefit.
During the meeting, Filipche and Mickoski also discussed constitutional amendments related to European integration, noting that there are differing positions on this matter.
Filipche stated that they will discuss the constitutional amendments further.
The next step following the meeting will involve nominating experts in key areas and creating a preliminary model of cooperation to be offered to other political parties.
Filipche concluded by saying that citizens should be aware that their demands are being heard and that this should be the direction taken in the future.
