Skopje Now Directly Connected to Paris Via New Airline

A new Skopje-Paris airline route has officially launched, connecting Skopje International Airport with Paris’s Orly Airport, operated by EasyJet.

The airline will operate twice weekly, supported by government funding through the Ministry of Transport’s Program for the introduction of new destinations. The agreement dictates that EasyJet will maintain this route from April 2nd until December 31st, 2027, following a fixed schedule.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski emphasized the importance of this connection for improved communication between North Macedonia and Europe, anticipating increased tourism. He noted the government’s strategy shift towards subsidizing arriving passengers to boost the use of domestic services, which has already yielded positive outcomes with the introduction of eight new destinations from Skopje and two from Ohrid in a short timeframe. Negotiations with other airlines are underway to secure additional routes.

The Skopje-Paris route falls under the Ministry of Transport’s financial support initiative for new airlines, facilitated through public subsidy calls. Other new routes from Skopje include destinations like Dubai, Stuttgart, Lyon, Barcelona, Geneva, and Amsterdam, while Ohrid will offer routes to Istanbul and Basel.

The Government’s Financial Support Program 2025-2027 allocates 360 million denars for subsidies aimed at enhancing air traffic, providing citizens with more travel options, and fostering the development of civil aviation.
