Democratic Renewal of Macedonia (DOM) Condemns Corruption Allegations Following Anti-Corruption Official’s Resignation

The Democratic Renewal of Macedonia (DOM) has strongly condemned alleged corruption practices within the nation’s institutions following the resignation of Tatjana Dimitrovska, the President of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC).

The party views the indictment against Dimitrovska for allegedly revealing official secrets and computer forgery in the “Aditiv” case as evidence of deep-seated corruption infiltrating the highest levels of institutions responsible for upholding the rule of law. DOM believes this scandal damages the credibility of the SCPC and emphasizes the need for immediate and decisive reforms in control and accountability systems.

DOM is urging the Parliament to promptly enact crucial legal amendments aimed at combating corruption and to establish an independent, specialized body responsible for vetting the integrity of public servants and officials. The party asserts that without these fundamental changes, any pronouncements against corruption will remain mere rhetoric.

To ensure integrity and transparency among elected and appointed officials, DOM is advocating for several key measures: thorough and consistent verification of asset declarations, public disclosure of conflicts of interest, automatic suspension upon the filing of a substantiated indictment, and the establishment of an independent anti-corruption inspectorate with the authority to impose real sanctions.

DOM emphasizes that tackling corruption transcends party politics and concerns fundamental human values, as well as the state’s historical responsibility to its citizens. The party laments that the country did not adopt a “Zero Corruption” stance upon declaring independence 34 years ago, leading to a continued struggle against corruption that is driving young people to emigrate.

The Green Party DOM is calling on citizens, associations, and political parties who believe in justice and equality before the law to unite in defense of the rule of law. The party warns that inaction risks losing the last shred of institutional credibility and causing the youth to seek their futures abroad permanently.
