Kaja Shukova’s message on the anniversary of the Skopje earthquake

Kaja Shukova, SDSM Vice President and candidate for mayor of Skopje, commemorated the 62nd anniversary of the 1963 Skopje earthquake, urging citizens to embrace the values of solidarity and unity that rebuilt the city. She emphasized the need for these values to guide Skopje forward, criticizing the current local leadership and outlining her vision for the future.

Shukova stated that Skopje was rebuilt with heart, will, and solidarity, emphasizing that unity and love for the city are essential for progress. She believes these forces are more crucial now than ever.

She strongly criticized the past four years of local leadership, accusing them of incompetence and neglecting the citizens’ interests, and claimed that the spirit of Skopje has been damaged, leaving residents powerless against party interests.

Shukova pledged to work with honesty and responsibility as mayor, dedicating herself to the citizens. She promised that her work would be guided by the love for the city and unity, the same forces that helped Skopje recover from the earthquake.

Shukova concluded by expressing her belief that Skopje deserves better and calling for a new beginning, and SDSM announced a campaign that will offer solutions to Skopje’s challenges and a vision for a city that belongs to its citizens.
