A massive search operation is underway for a 16-year-old girl who was swept away by the Vardar River near the village of Ulanici, in the Gradsko municipality. The search involves police officers, army personnel, the “Wolves” special police unit, divers, and kayakers.
The incident occurred when the girl and a 29-year-old woman from the same village were swimming in the river. The woman managed to escape the current, but the teenager was dragged away.
Authorities were alerted to the situation around 4:30 PM yesterday. According to reports, the 29-year-old, identified as K.P. from Skopje but temporarily residing in Ulanici, and the 16-year-old girl were swimming in the Vardar River when the incident happened. K.P. reportedly attempted to rescue the girl but was unable to pull her from the strong current.
The girl’s family, including her sister, has appealed for assistance, and they are present at the scene as the search continues. As of now, the search has not yielded any results.
