The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) is demanding an investigation into a recent tender awarded by the Ministry of Interior for organizing driving exams in the Pelagonija region, alleging it is a case of partisan abuse and corruption. SDSM Vice President Kaja Shukova claims the tender, worth millions of denars, was awarded to a newly formed company with ties to a VMRO-DPMNE official.
Shukova stated that the Minister of Interior, Panche Toshkovski, awarded the tender to “Super Vozach” (Super Driver), a company registered just three months before the announcement. She alleges that Filip Mitreski, a VMRO-DPMNE official and councilor in the Municipality of Kichevo, is linked to the company through “Street Ride,” which owns “Super Vozach.”
According to SDSM, this award grants “Super Vozach” a five-year monopoly on conducting all driving exams in Bitola, Prilep, and Resen. The party questions how a company established shortly before the tender was announced could have been so well-positioned to win.
SDSM claims this is the second major scandal involving the Ministry of Interior, following a controversial tender for police uniforms. The party accuses VMRO-DPMNE of using state institutions as personal ATMs, prioritizing party interests over public service.
SDSM has called for immediate action from the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption and the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office. They insist that these institutions must investigate the matter and fulfill their legal obligations. Shukova concluded by stating that those responsible must be held accountable, and that Macedonia deserves institutions that work for the benefit of its citizens.
