Mara van der Rol discusses family, work, personal growth, and future aspirations

Mara van der Rol, a 25-year-old resident of Leeuwarden, reflects on her life, career, and future ambitions in a recent interview. She shares insights into her family dynamics, entrepreneurial aspirations, and personal growth journey.

Van der Rol describes her family as unconventional but supportive. Her parents divorced when she was four, and she primarily lived with her mother. Her father now lives nearby with his wife and their two children, whom she considers her siblings.

Professionally, Van der Rol balances customer service work at FBTO with her burgeoning clothing webshop. She aims to become a successful entrepreneur and values the support she receives from her family, who have a history of entrepreneurial ventures.

Looking ahead, Van der Rol envisions living on the Spanish coast with her boyfriend and child, running a successful webshop or pursuing another fulfilling career. She expresses a desire to travel and discover the world, inspired by her grandmother’s journey from the United States to the Netherlands.

Van der Rol acknowledges her past insecurities and the challenges she faced as a teenager. She now embraces her sensitivity and has developed coping mechanisms, such as writing down her thoughts, to manage her ADD.

Despite her youthful age, Van der Rol feels mature, rating herself an 8 out of 10. She attributes this maturity to her early entry into the workforce and independent living.

Van der Rol is also concerned about global issues, expressing sadness over poverty and restricted rights in other countries. She hopes to contribute positively to the world and create a good life for her future children.
