A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Vlijmen, Netherlands, following the death of his 38-year-old partner. Police responded to a report of a serious incident at the woman’s home on Thursday evening.

The woman, identified as Jessica, was found injured at the scene and later died in the hospital. Authorities described the incident as “extremely violent.”

A young child was present in the home during the incident, while a second child was with their father. The police arrived at the residence around 10:30 PM after neighbors reported the incident.

This is the second incident this week in the Netherlands where a woman has been killed allegedly by a partner or former partner. Earlier this week, a 39-year-old woman was fatally shot in Gouda. Her former partner was later found seriously injured nearby and died from his injuries.

Statistics indicate that a woman is killed every eight days in the Netherlands. In a majority of these cases, the perpetrator is the woman’s current or former partner, most often a man.
