Ingrid Coenradie, the former State Secretary for Justice and Security for the PVV, is seeking a new political home after severing ties with the party. She expressed her desire to continue in national politics, emphasizing her commitment to action and unfinished business.
Coenradie recounted the circumstances surrounding the cabinet’s fall, stating she learned about it through a text message from her political assistant. She described the lack of communication from PVV leader Geert Wilders as “strange and emotional,” noting that they hadn’t spoken for some time following a disagreement over prison policies.
Speaking at a VVD “political café” in Rijswijk, Coenradie shared her experiences and feelings about her departure from the PVV, referring to it as a “piece of mourning.” She highlighted her dismay at not being allowed to continue in a demissionary capacity, despite offering her assistance.
While Coenradie didn’t specify which party she might join, she confirmed she is currently in talks. Her background includes previous involvement with the VVD and a recent leadership role with Leefbaar Rotterdam. Local VVD members described her as “open,” “honest,” and “approachable,” praising her commitment to victims of domestic and sexual violence, a cause she championed as State Secretary.
