Approximately twenty activists from Extinction Rebellion (XR) blocked access to chicken feed manufacturer De Heus in Ravenstein yesterday, marking the third such protest this year. XR claims that the company contributes to environmental damage and human rights abuses.
The group previously blockaded the De Heus location on April 17th and July 9th.
XR alleges that De Heus is a “driver of the nitrogen and biodiversity crisis” and facilitates “large-scale deforestation and environmental pollution.” The organization further accuses the company of disregarding “gross human rights violations.”
