Amsterdam and other Dutch cities offer a diverse range of cultural events and activities throughout July and August, catering to various interests. From art exhibitions and theatrical performances to festivals and unique museum experiences, there’s something for everyone.
Amsterdam is a hub of activity, hosting events such as the Keti Koti Festival, commemorating the abolition of slavery with music, dance, theater, and food on July 1st. Art enthusiasts can visit the Torch gallery to see John Malkovich’s interpretations of iconic photos, on display until July 12. The Rijksmuseum is showcasing the work of Japanese-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi until October 26. Additionally, the Bostheater presents a satirical take on the royal family by theatre group Out of Office until August 2. Film buffs can enjoy open-air screenings at Pluk de Nacht from August 20-30. Those seeking immersive experiences can find Mesmerica at the Artis Planetarium on July 11. Lego enthusiasts can also participate in Van Gogh sunflower workshops at the Van Gogh Museum.
Beyond Amsterdam, other cities offer unique attractions. In Wassenaar, the Voorlinden museum features Simone Post’s reconstructed childhood home made entirely of pastel-colored sweets, on view until August 31. The Allard Pierson in Amsterdam has an exhibition about ancient glass, exploring its production methods until March 1, 2026. Cricket fans can watch the Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Regional Final at Voorburg Cricket Ground from July 5-11. The Museum Universum Dome in The Hague hosts Mesmerica on July 12 and August 2, offering another opportunity for an immersive experience.
Visitors can also explore the gardens of the Het Loo royal palace and view over 100 pieces by Artus Quellinus at the palace on Dam Square until October 27. Moreover, the Pleinbioscoop in Rotterdam offers open-air film screenings from August 14-30.
