The Best Kept Secret festival kicked off its 2025 edition at Safaripark Beekse Bergen in Hilvarenbeek with an abundance of sunshine and a relaxed atmosphere. The festival grounds offered ample shade, and sunscreen stations provided by Zilveren Kruis were available for attendees.

Despite the pleasant weather, the festival initially felt somewhat sparse, with attendees wandering around the grounds. However, a festive vibe gradually emerged as the day progressed.

Droom Dit played in The Secret tent, while Das Pop performed to a less-than-packed crowd. St. Paul’s DJ set, beginning with a tribute to Sly Stone, created a lively atmosphere with a mix of genres, including funk, disco, hip hop, and techno. Maha, the first guest DJ, included Skunk Anansie’s “Yes It’s Fucking Political” in her set, hinting at the festival’s politically conscious bookings.

Long Fling, a supergroup from the Dutch indie-rock scene, delivered a standout performance in the Casbah, a warehouse-like venue reminiscent of CBGB’s. The band’s thorny guitar rock captivated the audience. The band’s lineup includes Pip Blom and Willem Smit from Personal Trainer, whose real-life relationship drew comparisons to iconic musical couples.
