A woman from Azerbaijan, now residing in the Ter Apel asylum center, expresses disillusionment and a desire to leave as soon as possible due to safety concerns and limited opportunities. Her initial hopes of studying in the Netherlands or Germany have been dashed, and she intends to advise her compatriots against seeking asylum in the Netherlands unless they have prospects for work or study. She highlights a lack of awareness among migrants regarding asylum regulations.
Another Azerbaijani woman, a single mother, arrived at the asylum center unaware of her ineligibility for a residence permit. She had previously sought asylum in Germany with her husband and children, selling her house and salon in Azerbaijan to finance the trip. The family’s decision to leave Azerbaijan was driven by a traumatic incident involving their daughter.
The woman shared a photo of her 5-year-old daughter’s severe burns, sustained in an accident involving a pan of boiling water. The then 3.5-year-old girl spent a month in intensive care, and continues to suffer from the pain and itching caused by the scars.
The woman’s husband had assured her that they would receive assistance and medical treatment for their daughter in Germany. However, upon arriving in Germany, her husband abandoned the family. She believes he used the family’s plight as a pretext to leave, and suspects he is now in France.
