Red Line Protest Against Israeli Policy Held in The Hague

Thousands of demonstrators, dressed in red to symbolize a “red line,” marched to the Peace Palace in The Hague on Sunday to protest Israeli policy. The protest, organized by over ninety aid organizations, aimed to highlight what they believe are unacceptable actions by Israel.

The procession began at the Malieveld around 1:30 PM, with participants walking to the Peace Palace, the location of the International Court of Justice.

Michiel Servaes, director of Oxfam and one of the protest’s initiators, stated that the “silent majority is mobilizing” after feeling paralyzed by the political climate and the framing of those who speak out about Gaza.

The police have not released any estimates regarding the number of participants. NS reported crowded trains to The Hague in the early afternoon. A previous protest four weeks ago drew an estimated 100,000 people.

The outgoing cabinet of Prime Minister Dick Schoof has not yet commented on the Red Line protests.
