Thousands of protesters have gathered at the Malieveld in The Hague this Sunday afternoon to demonstrate against the Dutch cabinet’s policy regarding Israel. Dressed in red, the protesters plan to march from the Malieveld to the Peace Palace and back, symbolically drawing “a red line.”
The protest is organized by several organizations, including Oxfam Novib, PAX, Amnesty International, and Doctors Without Borders. These groups are urging the outgoing Dutch cabinet to take action against Israel due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The organizers claim that a previous demonstration on May 18 drew over one hundred thousand participants.
Outgoing Prime Minister Schoof was invited to address the crowd at the Malieveld, but he has not responded to the invitation, according to a spokesperson for Oxfam.
Due to the large number of attendees, trains to The Hague are extremely crowded, with some passengers unable to board.
