Groningen’s nightlife scene is set to receive a boost with the opening of FIXY, a new nightclub located in the former premises of the popular Oost nightclub. Oost, a long-time favorite among Groningen’s partygoers, recently closed its doors after nine years of operation.
The new venue, situated on Oosterstraat, will be run by Kopjek, an event organization with fifteen years of experience in Groningen. Kopjek, known for its parties, is venturing into a permanent venue for the first time. The club will be located at Oosterstraat 13A, a monumental former school building that also houses the bar and bistro Cilinder.
Oost, the previous occupant of the space, was a regular Saturday night destination for many, featuring electronic music and live acts. Its closure on July 6 left a void in the city’s nightlife.
FIXY is scheduled to have its “soft opening” on Friday, August 29. Tickets are available for purchase through the club’s website.
