World Cup Qualifying Battle Shaping Up in Denmark’s Group

Denmark is currently leading Group C in World Cup qualifying after a decisive 3-0 victory over Greece, placing them ahead of Scotland due to goal difference. Scotland secured a 2-0 win against Belarus in a match held in Hungary, earning them a total of four points alongside Denmark.

The match between Scotland and Belarus saw Ché Adams scoring the opening goal for Scotland in the 42nd minute, assisted by Scott McTominay. The second goal came in the second half when Belarusian player Zakhar Volkov scored an own goal, extending Scotland’s lead.

Despite a few attempts by Belarus, Scotland maintained control throughout the match, with significant possession advantage. However, their performance was not as dominant as Greece’s previous 5-1 victory over Belarus.

Due to sanctions imposed by UEFA, Belarus is playing all of its matches on neutral ground without spectators as a result of the country’s support of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This also affects Denmark, who will face Belarus in an away match under similar conditions.
