Woman Sentenced for Possessing Crime Money Linked to Husband’s Drug Trafficking

A 46-year-old woman from Odder, Denmark, has been sentenced to nine months in prison for possessing over 136,000 euros (one million kroner) linked to criminal activity. The ruling was delivered at the Court in Aarhus on Thursday.

While the majority of the sentence is suspended, the woman will have to serve 60 days in prison and complete 120 hours of community service.

The court has also ordered the confiscation of the 136,000 euros found in her possession.

The case is connected to the woman’s husband, who was previously sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2023 for trafficking 30 kilos of cocaine.

According to a press release from the National Unit for Special Crime (NSK), the woman admitted to the offense.

Special prosecutor at NSK, Lise Hebsgaard, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I am pleased that the convicted person has admitted that the money comes from crime.”

She further emphasized the case as “a good example that NSK pursues criminal proceeds, even if the main players have already been convicted.”
