The woman was found near a tree, which authorities believe was struck by lightning while she was sitting beneath it. A nearby resident reported hearing two loud bangs and discovered the charred tree and the woman.
Police indicate the woman may have been seeking shelter under the tree to observe the water. She sustained injuries consistent with lightning strikes.
