Wolves Presumed to Have Killed Two Dogs in Denmark

Two dogs in Denmark are presumed to have been killed by wolves, marking the first such incidents since the wolf population returned to the country in 2012, according to the Agency for Green Conversion and Water Environment.

One dog was discovered dead on April 18th near Ikast in Central Jutland, while the other was found on March 10th near Ulfborg in Western Jutland. The agency reports that bite marks on both dogs indicate they were killed by wolves.

In both instances, the dogs were unsupervised and roaming freely at night. The agency believes the encounters between the dogs and wolves were random.

The agency has assessed that there is no problematic wolf involved and that the dog owners will receive compensation.
