Viborg FF is still searching for a new head coach with only nine days remaining until the start of the Superliga season. The club sold Jakob Poulsen to AGF on June 20, leaving the coaching position vacant.

Despite Viborg’s participation in the Superliga’s opening match against FC Copenhagen, sports director Mads Agesen is remaining patient in the search. Agesen emphasizes the importance of finding the right coach for the club’s environment, rather than rushing to fill the position before the first game. He expressed confidence in the ongoing process and mentioned working with exciting candidates.

Agesen acknowledged the inconvenient timing of Jakob Poulsen’s departure but noted that Viborg and AGF reached a “good agreement.” While prepared for the coach’s exit, Viborg aims to set a high standard for the new head coach. Activating candidates has proven challenging, especially when targeting individuals currently employed elsewhere, which has extended the search.

Assistant coach Nickolai Lund is currently managing the team’s daily preparations for the upcoming season. Mads Agesen is confident in Nickolai Lund’s ability to handle the temporary responsibility and is in communication with him. The sports director declined to comment on whether Lund is a candidate for the permanent position.

Viborg’s match against FCK is scheduled to kick off on July 18 at 7 p.m.
