Vejen Municipality has been awarded Danish Industry’s annual prize for the most business-friendly municipality in Denmark, marking the second time it has received the honor, the first being in 2022. The victory comes after a close competition with Ikast-Brande and Billund.
Vejen Mayor Frank Schmidt-Hansen expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from local companies, attributing the success to the dedication of the municipal administration and its 3,500 employees. He highlighted the municipality’s commitment to being solution-oriented and flexible in its approach to business.
The municipality excels in education and labor, and is known for its efficient processing of building permits. Vejen’s success aligns with a trend seen in other high-ranking municipalities in the region.
Emil Fannike Kjær, Director of Business and Members at Danish Industry, noted that municipalities in South, Central, and West Jutland generally prioritize creating favorable conditions for businesses.
The ranking is determined through a combination of publicly available statistics and a survey conducted by Danish Industry among over 7,500 member companies. 91 out of 98 municipalities participated in the survey, with those excluded lacking a sufficient number of participating companies.
Last week, SMV Denmark recognized Struer Municipality as the most business-friendly for small and medium-sized enterprises, with Vejen finishing seventh in that ranking.
