A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Næstved Court for stalking, marking one of the longest sentences ever given for such a crime. The South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police reported the sentence, which TV2 Øst also covered.
The man violated a restraining order against the woman up to 1,000 times in just two weeks in January 2025. Prior to this, he had contacted her by telephone more than 37,000 times, including 30,281 calls to her private phone.
The man and woman met through his workplace. He claimed they had a mutual intimate relationship, but the woman denied the relationship was intimate, describing it as a friendship that turned sour.
Prosecutor Sofie Amalie Johannessen told TV2 Øst that the two-year prison sentence is “at the very high end,” noting that stalking can be punished with up to three years in prison.
The 45-year-old has been in custody since January and remains so, and he is currently considering whether to appeal the verdict.
