Undercover Informant in “The Black Swan” Documentary Also Worked for Police

Amira Smajic, the undercover operative featured in TV 2’s documentary “The Black Swan,” has admitted to simultaneously working for the police, specifically the National Special Crime Unit (NSK) and the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET). This revelation adds a new layer of complexity to the already controversial documentary.

Smajic disclosed in a chronicle published in Politiken that she routinely provided the police with information gathered from within the TV 2 newsroom. “Yes, I have also passed on information from the newsroom at TV 2, which no one gave me consent to, and I did not inform them about,” she stated.

Smajic defends her actions by claiming she never explicitly promised TV 2 that she would withhold information from the police.

However, TV 2 documentary’s editor-in-chief, Michael Nørgaard, disputes Smajic’s account. In an email to Politiken, Nørgaard asserts that an agreement was in place prohibiting Smajic from sharing internal information with the police. He characterized the TV 2 newsroom as a “closed room” in their understanding with Smajic.

Smajic’s public statement comes in the wake of TV 2’s announcement that two new episodes of “The Black Swan,” the documentary that brought her into the public eye, are slated for release this summer.
