TV 2 Experiences Turnover Increase but Subscriber Count Dips

TV 2 saw an increase in turnover to 2.1 billion kroner in the first half of the year, according to their recently released half-year report. This represents a 138 million kroner increase compared to the same period in 2024.

However, the report also indicates challenges, including a slight decrease in the number of subscribers to the TV 2 Play streaming service since the beginning of the year.

According to TV 2’s CFO, Jakob Fink, the company is navigating “a good half-year in a difficult market.” He highlighted a downward trend in traditional advertising revenue coupled with the need to generate growth in an increasingly competitive streaming market.

A two percent decrease in advertising revenue, falling from 756 million kroner to 742 million kroner, is attributed to a decline in traditional advertising. This decrease is partially offset by an increase in digital advertising revenue.

The CFO noted the increasing difficulty in acquiring and retaining new Play subscribers, emphasizing the need for digital sales to compensate for the decline in traditional business.

Despite these challenges, TV 2 Play maintains its position as the most preferred streaming platform in Denmark. The platform holds a 17.7 percent viewership share among all Danes in the first half of the year.
