Turboweekend has been announced as a last-minute replacement for James Blake at this year’s Northside festival in Aarhus, Denmark. The change comes after Blake canceled his performance due to unforeseen circumstances.
The festival organizers expressed their disappointment but also shared their gratitude that Turboweekend was available to step in on short notice. “It’s really unfortunate to receive a cancellation so close to the festival, but unfortunately it happens once in a while,” said festival manager Brian Nielsen. “Therefore, we are also super happy and grateful that Turboweekend is stepping in with such short notice.”
Turboweekend, known for songs like “Trouble Is” and “Miles and Miles,” previously performed at Northside four times, with their last appearance in 2016. The band, fronted by Silas Bjerregaard, reunited last year after disbanding in 2018. According to the trio, it took a breakup, a pandemic, and a “nascent world war” for them to realize they missed performing together.
This year’s Northside festival is scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 5th, to June 7th. Other international acts slated to perform include LCD Soundsystem, Raye, and Weezer. Notable Danish artists on the lineup include The Minds of 99, Lukas Graham, and Dizzy Mizz Lizzy.
