The trial for the alleged murder of Jimmi Lillelund, who disappeared over five years ago, is set to begin Friday in Roskilde Court, with nine court days scheduled. Three individuals, a woman and two men, face charges in connection with his death. All three defendants have pleaded not guilty and are protected by a name ban.
The case revolves around the events following Lillelund’s disappearance on April 30, 2020. According to the indictment, Lillelund was allegedly shot and killed on that day between 3:20 PM and 4:30 PM. Prosecutors contend that his body was burned sometime between the murder and May 2, 2020, after which his remains were purportedly buried. Lillelund’s family reported him missing on May 2, 2020.
In late June 2024, the three suspects were initially charged with Lillelund’s murder. At the time, police did not seek their immediate detention, citing insufficient grounds for suspicion. However, on August 3, 2024, the three were brought before a preliminary hearing at the Roskilde Court and subsequently remanded in custody for three weeks. During an October 24, 2024, court hearing regarding their continued imprisonment, the two male defendants reportedly accused each other of committing the murder.
It was also revealed at the October hearing that a bone analysis had been conducted in the case, confirming the discovery of human remains strongly presumed to be those of Jimmi Lillelund. This confirmation followed previous silence from the police regarding the recovery of Lillelund’s remains.
On November 18, 2024, formal murder charges were filed against the woman and the two men. The men are accused of shooting Lillelund in agreement or common understanding with the woman. All three are also charged with indecent handling of a corpse, specifically for allegedly burning Lillelund’s body and burying the remains.
