Train Traffic Disrupted Near Henne Stationsby After Tractor-Train Collision

Train traffic near Henne Stationsby in Southwest Jutland will face disruptions in the coming days following a collision between a tractor and a train at a railway crossing on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Over Fiddevej and Hennevej outside Henne Stationsby, north of Esbjerg.

GoCollective anticipates that train services will be affected through Thursday. Specifically, trains will be suspended between Oksbøl and Nørre Nebel during this period. Replacement bus services will be implemented on this route to accommodate passengers.

The collision involved a train with three passengers and the engine driver, as well as the tractor driver. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported among those involved.

According to initial reports, the railway crossing where the accident occurred is equipped with a signal but lacks barriers. Banedanmark indicates that preliminary findings suggest the warning system was functioning correctly at the time of the incident.

The incident has prompted Varde Municipality to take action regarding safety at railway crossings. The municipality announced plans to install temporary signage at railway crossings without barriers before the end of the week. There are five such crossings on the West Line between Varde Station and Nørre Nebel Station.

This collision follows a series of recent accidents at railway crossings without barriers. Notably, on August 15, a train derailed in Bjerndrup, Sønderjylland, after colliding with a slurry tanker, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old woman and serious injuries to others. Another serious accident occurred on July 5 near Kliplev, where a van collided with a train at a barrier-free crossing where the warning system had been stolen shortly before.
