Train traffic between Denmark and Germany was disrupted on Sunday due to a fault in a catenary wire near Rendsburg, Germany. The disruption caused significant delays and stranded passengers before service was restored.
DSB (Danish State Railways) announced the resumption of train traffic on Sunday evening, shortly before 7 PM. Earlier in the day, DSB had been instructed to halt trains at Padborg, located in Sønderjylland (Southern Jutland), which borders Germany.
Deutsche Bahn, the German national railway company, initially projected that the issue would persist throughout the day. To mitigate the impact, replacement buses were implemented to transport passengers between Padborg and Flensburg. From Flensburg, regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn provided onward transport to Hamburg.
According to TV Syd, the disruption resulted in approximately 200 individuals being stranded at the Padborg station on Sunday morning. These passengers awaited alternative transportation via bus or taxi to continue their journeys.
